Mini-split systems, also known as ductless mini-split systems or ductless heat pumps, are a popular HVAC option for providing both heating and cooling to specific areas or rooms within a building. They consist of an indoor unit (evaporator) and an outdoor unit (condenser) connected by refrigerant lines.

Here’s an overview of the installation process for a mini-split system that we offer here at All Comfort Heating and Cooling:

A professional HVAC technician will assess the area where you want to install the mini-split system. Factors such as the size of the space, insulation, and electrical requirements will be taken into consideration.

Based on the assessment, the technician will recommend an appropriate mini-split system size and model that matches the cooling and heating needs of the space.

The indoor unit, which includes the evaporator coil and blower fan, is typically mounted on a wall or ceiling. The location should provide even distribution of air throughout the room.

The unit will be securely attached, and any necessary holes for refrigerant and electrical lines will be drilled.

The outdoor condenser unit is usually installed on a stable surface, such as a concrete pad or wall brackets. It should be positioned in an area with good airflow and minimal obstructions.

Proper insulation is applied to the refrigerant lines to maintain efficiency and prevent condensation.

Condensate drainage is set up to remove moisture collected by the evaporator coil. A drain line is connected from the indoor unit to an appropriate drainage point.

The HVAC technician will thoroughly test the mini-split system to ensure proper operation and performance.

They will check for refrigerant leaks, verify electrical connections, and confirm that both heating and cooling modes are functioning as intended.

The technician will provide you with instructions on how to use and maintain the mini-split system effectively.

They may also set up any remote controls or smart thermostat features if applicable.
